The founder

An itinerant Canadian, Dave left Nova Scotia in the 90s, following the local tradition of "going up the road" and heading west. He settled down in Montreal to work as a freelance writer, blacksmith and sculptor.  However, by the early 2000s it became clear that only one of these career options had any legs, so he upped stakes again. This time, he headed so far west he ended up in the East, starting an eight-year stint in China in 2002. It was there that he moved from freelancing to editorial management, founding his first content company in 2004, and eventually moving in to corporate communications.

In the decade since leaving China for Switzerland, Dave focused on corporate communications. While initially a suit-wearing corporate minion, he later escaped to the agency side, inevitably returning to his entrepreneurial roots.

The name Lightfoot is a tribute to Dave's maternal grandfather, William "Bill" Lightfoot. It came about partially because Taylor is an incredibly generic name, but also because Bill taught him the importance and fundamentals of project management and effective planning, which still form the foundation of his approach:

"Understand the project, plan the order of operations, execute with care, double check quality before delivery."
